UPDATE 03/30/25: The Japan shopping guide has been updated in a recent newsletter. click here to check out the full list!

There’s never been a better time to take a flight across the pond to the land of fire garments. Right now the USD to Yen conversion is absolutely crazy, which means that some of the best clothing is ripe for the taking. I’ve yet to travel to Japan myself but I’m aiming to change that in the coming months. Until then, I’ve been building a pretty long list for myself when I touchdown, and today I wanted to share a little bit of it to help you maximize your shopping experience — consider this a starting point because there are just so many brands and stores to discover once you’re over there.

This list will feature some obvious brand stores, some multi-brand retailers, and of course, some second-hand stores that you should check out. I have about 30+ shops on today’s list but I’m hoping to refine it and build an even better guide once I travel there later this year, so stay tuned for that — I’ve also created a Google Maps link that you can sync up to all of the stores featured in today’s list for an even easier shopping experience.

The Shopping Guide series is one of the great paid subscriber perks that gather some of my favorite stores in major cities around the globe. Right now we have New York, Paris and Toronto, but more will be added soon.

For $5/Month you’ll unlock even more weekly content, access to The SNL Store List, City Shopping Guides, and more!
