Where To Shop In New York City
Exploring the ultimate shopping spots for acquiring the best clothes money can buy
Shopping online is fast and easy, and there are countless online stores available at your fingertips with just a click of a button. While all of that is great, the truth is, shopping physically will forever triumph the online shopping experience — there’s just something about being able to touch and try on the garments, strike up conversations about clothing with those working at the stores, and so much more that ends up generating a special type of excitement you wouldn’t get from shopping online.
Let’s be real, New York is the place to go when it comes to shopping. In fact, there might be too many stores to shop at. With so many resources available in relatively close quarters, upping your style game might feel a bit overwhelming. I’m hoping today’s guide will make things a little bit easier!
In today’s newsletter, we are taking a look at some of my favorite stores to hit up every time I visit NYC. We’ll be checking out the stores themselves, what brands and vibes you can expect when visiting, and last but not least, a curated map of over 40 different stores to visit and you can sync it with your phone, so the next time you’re travelling you’ll be able to navigate to each location with ease.
PILGRIM SURF + SUPPLY
Pilgrim has been calling Williamsburg home since 2012. Over the years the shop has become a place for surfers, friends and the community to all come together in one space. Shortly after it’s opening, Pilgrim started venturing into the idea of making clothing by working with small factories in the Garment District to create their own mainline. Since then, the brand has expanded their partnership with brands like Beams to further their product development while keeping focus on producing high quality garments.
While being primarily a surf shop, Pilgrim has grown to carry a bunch of amazing clothing brands that you don’t get to see in person as much as you should — we’re talking, Beams Plus, Daiwa Pier39, Orslow, Arpenteur and so on. They recently moved into a new location, which is actually insanely beautiful — the vibes are just great. Staff is great and extremely friendly, and they always have some vinyl spinning which just ties everything together so nicely.
Having good clothing is great, but when you’re backed by a community of people who all share a similar passion, then there’s just a particular mood in the air that makes the shopping experience so much nicer. Definitely recommend this store for anyone in town.
You can check out Pilgrim Surf + Supply online here and at their physical location at 33 Grand St, Brooklyn, NY.
