Favorite Fashion Moments of 2023
Wrapping up the year by taking a look back at the most exciting collaborations and other moments this year.
Things have been winding down here at SNL, the new year is around the corner and that means it’s time to unwind, relax and recharge for the new year. 2023 has been a massive year for the blog and I’m super hyped about the things that are coming in 2024 — I’ve been trying hard not to leak anything, but the due date is approaching on a bunch of things that I’ll be able to share with you very soon.
I still have two more newsletters in the pipeline for December, so there’s still lots of good content for all of us to enjoy. Today we’re going to be recapping some of my favorite fashion moments of the year, specifically collaborations and taking a look back at some newsletters that I had a blast writing this year.
I’m also working on a Top 100 Items of the Year article, which will be individual garments that we all enjoyed this year, summarized all in one place. So if you think something is missing from today’s list, I’ll probably have it covered in next week’s newsletter, so make sure you subscribe down below and stay tuned for that to drop very soon.
2023 was booming in terms of collaborations. There were moments when things felt stale at times, but looking back at it now we were really blessed with exciting releases that pushed fashion forward. Now, today’s roundup is just a slice of the bigger picture, there might be some moments that I may have forgotten about, or I just simply didn’t have enough space to put them into today’s newsletter (shout out to the character limit)
I do want to hear what your favorite moments in fashion were, so drop those in the comments below.
With all of that that being said, let’s quit the yapping and let’s dive straight into business.
L.L.Bean x Beams Plus
Released in April, for me this was all about the marketing. It’s fun to see something different, and that’s how I felt when I saw the lookbook for the first time. It’s this whole, “clothing is for everyone” approach that I really enjoyed. Even though they missed the opportunity to name this project “L.L.Beams” it’s still ended up being a huge hit.
Football Kits
Football kits took fashion by storm this summer… A moment in fashion that isn’t new, and is one that will come back in the near future. It was a lot of fun diving back into the archives to check out older releases and how they’ve aged in today’s trend market — one of my favorite newsletter of the year was recalling the football kits from the Palace catalog. If you missed this one, I highly recommend giving it a quick read. I know that it’s technically not really 2023 vibes, but who cares.

Dime x ASICS
This collab debuted during Paris Fashion Week back in June, and ASICS is going all in with the GT-2160 model — an insanely comfortable shoe that has been getting an array of colorways since its debut. A fun little video that came out announcing the collaboration really set a fun tone to the release, and the shoe itself was just great. Loving that gradient detailing that runs across the midsole and the upper.
That’s the beauty of what ASICS has been doing with their Sportstyle line — rock them to the gym as intended, or hit the streets with a casual fit. Whatever you’re doing, the shoes are giving that optimal level of comfort while looking great without costing an arm and a leg? Sounds like a great deal to me.
I Miss The Old Streetwear
I was going through some serious nostalgia early in the year, and that let me to writing the I Miss The Old Streetwear newsletter, which highlighted some clothing classics we all used to enjoy, to very questionable fashion choices we aren’t proud of. That specific topic might have been the most fun thing I’ve written all year — it’s so much fun to go back and remember where we came from in terms of fashion, because not even that long ago we were really making some interesting choices. The way we used to wear and consume fashion has changed, but the memory lives on forever.

Stussy x Timberland
Dropped in January, this was a great way for Stussy to enter the 2023l Almost a whole year later, and this collab is hotter than ever. I do think there was a boom in boots this year though, more so in comparison to the last, but I couldn’t be wrong — it just felt like people were really into upping their boot game this year, and that was exciting to see. It also helped that there were a lot of heat options to choose from, which made the hunt for the perfect boot that much fun. All that aside, definitely would love to see another Stussy x Timberland in the near future.
If you’re someone who still hasn’t found the right boots, then you might have to take a look at the latest Boot Report™ — checking out a lot of different styles, getting classics on a budget, and a bunch more information you will need to level up your boot game this season:
The Leather Jacket Report™
The leather jacket was an extremely popular item this spring — it’s one of those pieces that is an absolute classic that will never go out of style, but if you’re someone who wants to dive into this world but don’t know where to start, then this report might be just the thing you need. A good leather jacket lasts a lifetime, so take the time to research what works best for you in order to maximize the lifespan of this particular piece.
Sacai x Carhartt WIP
Every year Sacai comes hitting the ball out of the park with some sort of collaboration, and this year that home run is with Carhartt WIP. Ok, so this one is well over mine, or any normal persons price range, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s filled with a bunch of items that make me want to throw my financial responsibility down the drain. If you have had the opportunity to check this one out in person then you know what I mean — Sacai’s garment construction is truly at such a pristine level that it sets them apart from the rest. I was also really vibing with the baby blue color choice for this collab specifically — that’s usually not a color that comes to mind when talking about Carhartt, so it was a pleasant surprise.
Supreme FW23
Every season we hear the same old song, “Supreme is dead”, “Supreme is back”, and so on. While I do agree that some seasons are better than others, Supreme still remains at the top of the streetwear pyramid. Obviously not everything is going to be for everyone, but it’s important to keep an open mind because just because you don’t like it, doesn’t make it bad.
Either way, Supreme’s FW23 collection felt like jolt of energy that has pulled me back into their spell — this is mainly because of the continued rollout of more items that have little to no branding, which makes it much easier to incorporate within your wardrobe. Anyway, this is a very strong season that is filled with a bunch of great pieces that would make a great addition to anyone’s daily rotation. You can read about my review and thoughts on the collection down below:
Palace x UGG
This one was tough because I was trying to pick between this collab and the most recent one Palace did with C.P. Company because it hasn’t left my mind since it dropped. Realistically we could talk about both, but I’m already running out character space so I need to cut it short. UGG has been having a huge moment this year in general, and they are no strangers when it comes to working with Palace. When I saw the most recent collaboration I knew it was going to be an instant hit.
Palace is about having fun, and I think they did a great job translating that brand identity to this collaboration with UGG. It’s rather simple, sporting a few classic Palace logos and badges from various seasons, but that playfulness and non-serious approach to blasting the logos across the UGGs just works. It’s something to wear around the house, or with some sort of playful fit, the choice is really yours but just remember to have fun with it.
It’s Time To Put Away Your Arc’teryx Jacket
Oh man, this article had people tight! I guess I came at peoples throats when I said that there are other options besides the arc jackets when it comes to gearing up for the rainy weather — even though there is nothing wrong with them, sometimes you just want something different and that’s totally okay too! It’s always good to have options when you’re looking to acquire a garment for a specific weather climate, and having that discourse is actually instrumental to growing your own personal style and keeping that fashion community vibe that ties us all together moving forward.
Arc became a massive meme that I don’t really want to be part of, so it was a no brainer for me to look at the dozens of other brands out there that are making their own version of “the perfect rain jacket”.

Lacoste x Le Fleur
Ima keep it real with you for a split second… I’m not really a fan of the quality of the Golf Wang stuff, I’m also at a point in my life where that type of clothing isn’t really doing it for me. Tyler’s new brand, Le Fleur, is pretty good not only in quality but the also the designs themselves. The focus seems to be in bringing this luxurious vibe that feels way more mature and grown up to its counterpart, Golf, and that’s what interests me more as a consumer.
The recent Lacoste collab was definitely not cheap, but prices aside I really enjoyed this more simple approach that was elevated using the various hardware like the buttons or the logo patches that felt a bit more chic than usual. Really curious to see how the Le Fleur brand continues to grow in the new year.
This concludes the tip of the iceberg of the collaborations and articles that drove that excitement in 2023. I’d love to hear what your favorite fashion moments were, so make sure to drop those down below and let’s get to talking
The Sacai x Carhartt WIP drop was dope! One of my other favorite collabs was with Eddie Bauer x Buck Mason. https://www.buckmason.com/collections/eddie-bauer
