Clothes I've been wearing recently
90s-inspired outerwear, another pair of perfect sweatpants, a shirt I can't stop wearing, technical gear, and more!
What’s going on everyone! Content has been a bit slow recently because I’m reporting live from fashion week in Paris. Excited to check out all the new gear, catch up with friends, and report on stuff you should keep your eyes on in the coming days. Make sure you stay tuned to IG and Twitter as I’ll start dropping exclusive looks at what’s coming starting today!
After the overwhelming response to my recent purchases newsletter a few months ago, I wanted to run it back with some new purchases. It’s been a few months, which has given me the chance to acquire some new items to be obsessed with. In today’s newsletter, we have a first look at a jacket from the JJJJound x Descente Allterrain Part 2 collab, another pair of amazing sweatpants I can’t stop wearing, 90s-inspired outerwear, a shoe I’m keeping on ice until spring, some exclusive fit pics of everything I got, and more!
JJJJOUND + DESCENTE ALLTERRAIN
I’ve been addicted to the color blue recently, whether that’s full blue or just blue accent detailing. I ended up grabbing the Hardshell Parka from the upcoming Chapter 2 drop with Jound and Descente Allterrain. To bring you up to speed, Descente is a sportswear company out of Japan that has been manufacturing high-performance gear for almost 100 years. “Allterrain” is a sub-line that utilizes Descente’s manufacturing expertise to design and create more stylish performance gear.
This jacket is as classic as it gets in terms of your hardshell. Completely waterproof and windproof, the interior tape seams add an extra layer of protection from anything getting in. Completed with waterproof zippers on the pockets to ensure nothing gets wet, plus you get some zippers at the armpits for that easy ventilation airflow in case you need it. Overall fit is nice, and the blue detailing is a nice little touch that I’m enjoying.
If you’re shopping for a new shell and need something besides an Arcteryx jacket, then this is going to be a very solid addition to your closet. The collab also has a long coat that comes in the same hardshell material which I thought was sick. You can check out more details directly on the Jound website here, and get ready for the drop on their website on January 23rd.
ROUGH DRAFT
So I actually picked up this Terra Jacket from Rough Draft a while back but more recently, it’s been part of my rotation and I’m refusing to take it off. The wool construction is extremely cozy and is perfect to throw on when I’m at the studio. Although it’s marketed as a jacket, I’d say you can easily wear this as a shirt.
I’d say this is a solid midweight item that I went a size down on for whatever reason, but I’m glad I did, as it fits me perfectly. I’d probably say that going with your true size here will be fine. The texture of it is so interesting and unlike anything I have in my closet—my favorite part has to be on the inside, which is almost like a net lining of sorts, but it’s a cool little detail that I haven’t seen before. Snap buttons at the wrists for easy cuff adjusting, and I enjoy that they went with a zipper instead of buttons. Overall, really solid piece that I’ve been having a lot of fun wearing recently.
J EONGL I
Been super interested to learn more about this brand for a while now, so I was extremely stoked to pick up a few items from their recent collection. As you may have already guessed, I’m addicted to technical garments, as well as earth tones, so it was a no-brainer that I would probably like this brand from the start.
I ended up grabbing the SSENSE-exclusive Taupe Transform Jacket, which comes in this textured cotton-blend taffeta, as well as the softshell trousers in this very nice charcoal color. I really like the pants, although I would probably say that they aren’t built for the tall boys—we’re talking anyone above 6’4 here—I had to wear them slightly lower than usual to get my ideal fit. It's not a problem for me but I know some of you are looking for that length! Drawstrings at the bottom allow for easy leg adjustments at the opening, and the stitching detailing around the knee is probably my favorite part of the pants.
The jacket is absolutely killer. The huge pockets are a lot of fun, they run at the front as well as at the sides through the back. Would have been cool if they had some sort of zipper or maybe a snap to close them up though, but it’s not the biggest deal that they are left open. The texture of the jacket has to be my favorite part—it adds a little bit of flavor to what seems like a simple piece, but don’t let that fool you, as this item has a lot of really interesting hidden details.
