A few days in New York
New stores in the city, discovering new brands, upcoming collections from Sunflower, 3sixteen, Wythe, Paraboot, and more!
Reporting live from New York! Originally my trip was going to be a few short days, but I was having fun so I decided to extend the trip. The week was packed thanks to market week, which brought brands, store buyers, and homies all together in one place. There’s nothing better than being able to see good clothing in person and catch up with friends who share the same passion for clothes.
In today’s newsletter, we have exclusive intel on upcoming collections from brands like Paraboot, 3sixteen, Wythe, Sunflower and more. I also got a chance to explore some new brands which we’ll talk about in a bit, and some new shops you need to visit next time you’re in town.
Being continuously tapped in is not as easy as you might think. Discovering stuff online is chill most of the time, but a lot of the real hits get lost in the vortex and are overshadowed by memes and other junk on our feeds that get in the way. Going directly to the source like fashion/market weeks is a sure way to not only see the stuff in person but also find new brands that you may have never even heard of. And this past week I ended up doing just that.
HEREU STUDIO
Originally I was scheduled to go out to check out the new collection from Sunflower — which had a bunch of fall-ready hits. More on that later though. While I was in the showroom I ended up passing by a section of select footwear from Hereu. The Spanish brand has been specializing in leather goods since 2014, and needless to say, I instantly liked what I saw.
The footwear is not cheap but handmade stuff from Spain costs what it costs. The quality seemed top-level from my initial experience in hand, soles seem to be stitched to the upper which provides that solid lasting quality where you don’t have to worry about the shoes falling apart. I’d have to rock a pair to give you my true thoughts though. Will keep my eyes on this one for the future, and hopefully will grab a pair for myself for a proper review — unless Hereu is tryna send your boy flow to try out, I wouldn’t mind that either.
BIG ROCK CANDY MOUNTAINEERING
This is a fun one! Although it’s a relatively new brand, they’re already making strides for the upcoming season. Filled with gear built for the outdoors, Big Rock Candy Mountaineering focuses on creating garms using references from American mountaineers from the 50s to 70s.
The standout for me has to be the boots, which will be dropping via their website in soon. A nice little hiker that has some fun pop of color thanks to the various laces — rock these to the mountain or the streets, the choice is yours! Rubber detailing wrapped around the toe box is a nice little touch that will guarantee durability that can take a beating.
Highly recommend tapping in and following them on IG here to stay in touch on future drops.
SHOPPING GUIDE
Had a chance to update the shopping guide for New York, which features over 40 stores you can visit for a variety of shopping experiences. Full list is available for all of our paid subscribers here. The list includes a direct map link that you can save to your phone for easy browsing.
Here are some new additions to the list that you should hit up on your next trip there:
242 Mulberry - 242 Mulberry
A concept location for Blackstock & Weber and ACADEMY. This might be my new favorite spot in the city. I already loved the stuff coming out this brand, but what really won me over are the people who work here. I was in the area and remembered that the shop just opened so I had to check it out. Before I knew it, I was there for 2 hours just chatting it up and making friends at the store. Some of the friendliest and welcoming dudes who share a similar passion for clothing. What more can you ask for? A must stop if you’re in the city!!
Fugazi - 55 Canal St.
The new Lower East Side location is the first brick and mortar location for the brand. A solid spot to peep some clothes, experience the humor side of the brand in person, or just post up and kick it outside with a coffee — they got a nice little in-house cafe that’s connected to the store.
Wythe - 59 Orchard St.
A new addition to the Orchard Street roster, Wythe is a great spot to get yourself a few menswear classics with a western twist. Highly recommend popping by this shop to see the pieces in person.
194 Local - 86 Eldridge St.
The UK based curated vintage shop specializing in designer menswear and womenswear now has a new home. They just opened up shop and business is booming. Located conveniently beside stores like Fugazi, Happy 99, Luke’s NYC, and more.
STUFF YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT
Now for the juicy part. New collections from my personal favorites. Being able to see all the stuff in one place feels overwhelming at times, but it’s a good way to understand where the game is heading in terms of trends for the next year. We’ll definitely need to circle back on a these in the future as I find out more release information. For now, enjoy a couple of SNL-exclusive sneak peeks that caught my eye this week.
Seeing the upcoming Sunflower collection brought me insane levels of joy. I was lucky to be the only person in the showroom, giving me a proper chance to go through everything with ease. I wish I took more photos, but the outerwear was the standout for me. Here are a few personal favs:
Paraboot is a brand that needs no introduction, especially on this blog. But with that being said, we do have a few bangers to go through to get us ready for future seasons— even though that feels ways away. Classic models are back in new colorways, fisherman sandals and boatshoes still getting love for the next year, and some mary jane options keeps things fun and exciting.
It’s always a good time over at 3sixteen. Their showroom was filled with new pieces that we’ll circle back to in the near future, but I wanted to share a little teaser at the upcoming glasses collection that is dropping sooner than you think. A variety of great shapes, these were a lot of fun to be able to try out in person. I’m usually going for the slimmer shapes, but it was interesting to see how these played with my face — all in all, I was pleasantly surprised how some of these styles I wouldn’t usually go for ended up complimenting my face shape.
Body of Work and SAS are back with another collaborative hit. Their first version quickly became my everyday walking shoe, and I haven’t looked back since. I’m not going to lie, I’m not one to usually go for velcro shoes but this one might just make me switch sides. That’s how comfortable they are, plus that brown suede is just perfect, although the shade of blue might be calling my name this time around. Anyway, no release date just yet, but stay tuned for more info.
Hot tip, their first version is still available in a few sizes on their site, which you should not sleep on if you’re on the hunt for guaranteed daily comfort. Fit is true to size!

I finally got to see more than one Ranra piece in person. Have been very curious about this brand, which if you didn’t know, actually started out as Arnar Már Jónsson and was later rebranded to Ranra. Long story short, the brand focuses on functional aesthetics with technical innovation, which often incorporates utilitarian elements with the focus on creating versatile yet durable clothing.
I really need to make the effort to just buy a piece to give my full thoughts on the brand… Maybe a task better suited for fall.
Need a sunflower leather zip real bad. Also loving the 3Sixteen shades
Awesome write-up; I can also vouch for the 242 Mulberry crew! Really welcoming and helpful. Also super-psyched for those 3sixteen sunglasses. Any idea what the price range on those will be?
