I'm currently preparing the suitcase for my next trip, which hasn’t been easy. Hearing reports that the New York heat is going crazy, and I’m not sure I’m entirely ready. At this point, I’m just trying to survive the heat so I don’t even mind wearing the same thing if I have to. If anything, it gives me an excuse to pick up a few things from some of my favorite shops that I don’t get to visit often.
Anyway, we have a bunch of things to cover in today’s newsletter like some recommendations on where to get some shorts in various styles as requested by you, the readers, random stuff I’m currently feeling, a little teaser for an upcoming giveaway and a curated list of a bunch of shops and brands that are having their annual summer sales right now.
REQUESTS FROM THE READERS
I’ve been getting a few reader requests for recommendations on shorts and some bathing suits, so I gathered a couple of brands and shops you can take a look at to get yourself started.
Garbstore’s Wide and Easy shorts might just be the thing you’ve been looking for. An elastic waistband ensures an easy fit, and choosing to not run the elastic detailing throughout was a nice choice. The cotton nylon combo is great which makes them easy to clean. For instance, they might be prone to potential exposure to various condiments this summer, so we need to make sure we can do a quick wipe on the go so you can enjoy your hotdogs in peache. Oh, I forgot to mention they are also currently on sale for 50% off.
A simple sweatshort is a lot of fun to wear in the summer, especially around the house. Sometimes all you need is a little simplicity mixed with comfort. The Canary Sweatshort from Bather is my go-to currently. Simple, insanely comfortable. Run it through the wash and it will get even cozier, I promise. I usually just hang dry mine, but I’ve totally run it through the dryer with no issues. The overdyed sweatshorts from Supreme are also a good choice that comes in a range of colors and will be a bit more structured as the material is slightly thicker.
JJJJound has a bunch of shorts that are priced well and for the quality, you’ll be getting your money’s worth. They have a variety of great styles that fit both 5” and 7” inseams, and range between $95-$135. There are some linen shorts that are priced slightly higher, but I still think it’s worth the money considering what the prices of shorts are these days.
Pilgrim has a selection of really nice made-in-Japan bathing suits that come in a variety of colors. You need to look good on and off the water, even if you don’t do it often, so you might as well invest in a pair that’s going to last. Pilgrim is a brand more people need to start exploring, their stuff is good. It’s as simple as that.
If you are looking for something easy and cheap then I suggest looking at Carhartt WIP. Found a bunch of their shorts on sale right now for $55 over at Lost and Found here.

I LOVE KAPITAL SO MUCH
Kapital is out there doing whatever they want and I love every second of it. Not only with just their clothing, but the way they even choose to showcase their collections — take this dance inside of a barn as an example. Chaotic beauty that’s oozing a fun time. I love it.

Writing a newsletter that reaches far distances around the globe can be rough sometimes. The weather is different everywhere, and sometimes you need to continue to write about pieces that might not necessarily fit specific temperatures in certain climates.
