What to buy this week
New summer heat from Paratodo, upcoming drops you need to know about, leather shorts, bags from independent designers, and more.
It’s good to be back at the SNL HQ — I went on a trip to China for a few weeks and that was an absolute blast. Need a few days to get settled in first, but the trip recap newsletter is coming soon and it’s a good one! Until then, we have a bunch of upcoming releases and new gear that we have to go through.
In today’s newsletter, we’ll be checking out a new pair of shorts I’m obsessed with, independently designed bags for the summer, the most comfortable pair of shoes that are getting restocked, a few upcoming releases you need to know about, and more as usual.
Little friendly reminder to all of my readers who are planning to travel far and wide this year. I’ve been getting more questions on where to shop in places like New York, and I just wanted to remind everyone that we have some pretty extensive shopping guides for cities like New York, Tokyo, Paris, and Toronto all available here! Make sure you use these to enhance your shopping experience the next time you visit.
PARATODO SUMMER ‘24
The homies from Philly are back with a patterned banger. Paratodo always comes correct when it comes to using fun patterns to execute their ideas and this collection is no different. I’m getting heavy beach vibes from it, which has me nothing but excited for the scorching heat.
A little playful pattern is a going to be a huge mood this season. It’s always fun to play with color, and I love how Paratodo always incorporates unique patterns throughout their collections. Shorts are massive stompers, they also come with some deep pockets — which is always a bonus that allows you to carry all sorts of random stuff when needed.
The Summer ‘24 collection will be live on the Paratodo website this Friday, May 24th at 11 am EST.
A RECENT PICK-UP
Supreme has done it again! Lambskin leather shorts in the summer might seem crazy, but in reality, this is not for those days where you’re planning on melting outside — more ideal for a night out if we’re being honest, but if you’re a warrior you can rock these in the heat as well.
The oversized and below-the-knee fit is perfect. I’ve been enjoying the fact that more brands are making longer shorts, but I understand it’s not for everyone. It’s one of those items that will look great on anyone above 6’ — ideal for anyone with longer legs to be honest.
The Supreme Lambskin leather shorts were part of this SS24 collection, and unfortunately, they sold out quick. However, if you’re interested in exploring the leather shorts world, then I have a few other suggestions from GUESS USA that might satisfy that itch.
Their cracked leather has been making rounds across different pieces like shirts and jackets as seen in their past collections, and honestly, it’s a solid staple that they’ve been leaning into which has been working well. They are definitely not cheap though but realistically a good leather product will always be an investment — you want good leather you are going to have to pay for it… unless you hit the jackpot at the thrift of corse.
You can shop the GUESS USA cracked leather shorts on the Highsnobiety shop here.
YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY DOUBLE PLEATS
LA’s Brother Brother is back with some Double Pleated Trousers for SS24. These are hot and they will not be sitting in their store for long, so we better act fast. Sure, the summer is usually filled with heat, but that doesn’t mean pants aren’t in the option book. I know a lot of you have been hitting me up for some good quality, wide-set pleats that will be great for casual nights or that elevated evening, and when Brother Brother dropped theirs, I knew I had no choice but to share them with you today.
Pick from Ripstop, Cotton Twill, or Denim, each pant comes in various sizes all the way up to 38 in waist! The nicely relaxed fit will pair well with any sort of outfit style with ease.
You can check out the Brother Brother’s pleated lineup directly on their website here.
INDEPENDENT DESIGNERS ARE KILLING IT
I’ve been seeing more and more independent bag designers popping up on my feed and I’m loving every minute of it. There’s been a definite rise in utilitarian-focused designers who have been making a variety of really cool bags for us to enjoy. Dan Gee is one designer who’s been on my watchlist for a minute now but when I first discovered the brand, the stuff had already been sold out — luckily he’s back with a restock on his past drop that I’m definitely not sleeping on this time around.
The handmade bags are created using a water-resistant PU cotton and Polyamide nylon ripstop. Seems like a great mid-size bag that has a couple of pockets for you to store random things in as needed. You only need one good bag that you enjoy wearing constantly, and I think for the price this is going to be a solid investment.
The limited restock will be available on the Dan Gee website on Sunday, May 26th!
THE MOST COMFORTABLE SHOES ARE BACK
I’ve been living in the SAS Journey Mesh by Body of Work — seriously, this isn’t even a sponsored plug but these are so comfortable that it instantly became my number one pick in my daily rotation. Plus, I love a nice dark shoe that goes with everything in my closet.
Go with your true-to-size on this one, and enjoy an insane level of comfort right out of the box. Great construction that holds exceptionally well — tested with over 150,000 steps and counting!
The SAS x Body of Work Journey Mesh will be available directly on the Body of Work website later this week — no specific date has been set yet, but if you keep your eyes peeled on their IG you should be good.
TEXTILE MASTERS AT WORK
Swimwear research is very much at the forefront right now, and we’ve been blessed with a fun pattern on some amazing textiles from C.P. Company. Part of their recent drop, these quick-drying shorts are going to run your wallet a little bit, I won’t lie, but you’re getting top-tier construction that’s going to last — if you’re going to buy 1 solid pair of swim shorts then this will be a very solid choice.
They come in a bunch of sizes — all measured in CM. If you have a measuring tape, just measure around your waist to get your size. For reference I am a 32, so my ideal size would be a 48.
The Flatt Nylon Bogolan Swim Shorts are now available on the C.P. Company website here.
SUMMER SHIRT SEASON IS HERE
Been hearing some discourse around the camp collar shirt for summer ‘24 and whether or not we’re wearing them this season, and to that I only have one thing to say — what are we beefing for? The camp collar is a classic style that everyone should enjoy, it pairs perfectly on a hot day and just looks good with anything. It’s a simple choice that is easy to execute, so why would we not put it in our rotation?
There is a sea of options out there, but I’ve been feeling these two muted colored shirts from Save Khaki United. For under $150, you get yourself a nice breezy lightweight shirt that will be perfect for anyone trying to escape the heat. Made in the USA, the shirts feature some pleated hem on the back for a bit of a relaxed look and some straightforward double pockets at the chest.
Available directly on the Lost and Found website here.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST
A little bird just dropped off some intel regarding an upcoming drop from Metalwood Studio this Friday, May 24th at 11 am PST — more info is coming soon, but what we do have is a little sneak peek at one of their shirts that has my wallet open and ready.
I know Metalwood is all about golf, but these are giving me some heavy motocross vibes, and I’m definitely not complaining. Really excited to peep the rest of the collection as it drops later this week!
for summer pants - the COS women's wide leg tailored trousers are fire. really good slightly tapered super wide leg, have deep pockets and a long enough rise, and the cotton is so light & airy - going to get tons of wear from me this summer fr. 3-4 pant rotation is going to be the COS ones, fadepants cords (big up tevin), and then the cream jeans i made and then the canvas carpenter pants i'm making soon
