What To Buy This Week
Leather jackets on a budget, a collaboration with Yohji Yamamoto you need to know about, bags to elevate your fit, a pair of trousers you need in your rotation, and more!
Welcome back to another installment of WTBTW! — I realized it’s been months since our last general recommendations newsletter so you know we had to run it back real quick. As you may already know, January is a bit of a slow month when it comes to new releases, but February blessed us because there are suddenly a lot of things I want to talk to you about.
In today’s newsletter, we’re shopping for some leather jackets for spring as well as looking at some vintage options for under $150, upcoming footwear that has me excited to finally put away my boots, bags that will elevate your fit, checking out a pair of pants I’ve been gatekeeping for too long, and last but not least a unique grain leather derby that is unlike anything else you’ve seen before.
LEATHER SEASON IS UPON US
Leather jackets have been on the mind recently — Not to leak the sauce but I’m trying to find a nice brown one to match with some grey sweatpants cause it’s still cold AF and I need to stay cozy. Pair that with some leather shoes and it’s a wrap! Anyway, during my search I stumbled upon an upcoming piece from Post Archive Faction that I can’t get out of my head.
The only thing that I know so far is that this jacket is part of their upcoming 6.0 line, price wise we are probably looking somewhere around $1,000 at least, but these days that’s not even certain. Will keep you updated once I know more information. Other than that this looks like the ideal fitting jacket — plus that leather quality is just jumping out of the screen. The details on the elbows are crazy, double zipper is perfect, and the two hidden pockets on the inside are a nice little touch.
Dropping a thousand dollars on anything these days isn’t that simple, so alternatives are needed. Getting a bit of an older piece has its benefits — it’s broken in, has a nicer fade to it, and most likely has leather that’s built to last. After doing some digging I ended up finding this one Eddie Bauer piece from the early 2000s that just screamed quality. After that, I went on a search to see what else is out there and ended up putting together a list of nice leathers you can buy right now for the low — that list will be available down below. Here are is a little teaser of what I found.
