Welcome to the first official SNLTR - Street Night Live Trend Report, one of the most tapped-in resources for all of your trend needs.
Trends are subjective, especially when you zone in on a specific genre of fashion. You may agree or disagree with me and that’s ok. Some trends are gross, some are too good to be true, but we need to remember to keep an open mind and consider all trends before writing them off!
Have your own trend that you want to report? Hit the comment section at the bottom of the newsletter, I’d love to hear your opinions!!
Here is a list of what’s currently IN:
Laced camp collar shirts - Free market research for all of my brand owners out there!! This might be the horniest summer in a LONG time, and what better way to take on this heat than with a variety of laced shirts that are ready to be worn without any undershirt? I need more laced goodness that doesn’t cost $500+
Vertical Stripes - Feeling preppy but don’t want to wear a piece with Popeye plastered on the back? (Sorry Noah), then verticle striped shirts might be the answer for you. Jokes aside, it seems like every brand is pumping out verticle stripes right now, and I am not sure if it’s going to stop.
Wearing the exact same thing you wore yesterday - Many have already been on this wave, but it’s not too late to start if you haven’t already!! Recycling fits, in general, is very in, but wearing the exact same thing you wore out yesterday is bold, and hot!! Someone who wears the exact same thing for 5 days in a row is a person I can trust.
No Logos - I am living for this one, and shout out to Supreme’s recent Spring/Summer collection for taking a step in the right direction. Having logos, big or small, is a thing of the past—at least for me. I’ve slowly phased out my closet to have no logos, which allows me to mix and match way easier than pieces that have multiple logos on them.
Baggy everything - The baggy gods have spoken and it seems like more and more people are sizing up significantly when it comes to bottoms, and I am here for it. Next up is more brands offering baggy fits with proper waist sizing, this way I don’t need to rock a 38 when I am actually a size 32.
Gradients - If you’re an avid reader of the twitter account, then you know my recent opinion in regards to gradients being used on knits—in short, I love it! Let’s keep that same energy not just for knits, but for a variety of summer-ready clothes please!!!
Gatekeeping - Sometimes you don’t have to tell people exactly what you’re wearing because it’s fun to be mysterious. It’s funny to write this because my entire blog is anti-gatekeeping, and that’s ok because I make it up by very rarely telling you exactly what I wear in the real world.
With all of this being said, it’s time to take a look at what’s on its way/if not already OUT:
Collaborations - I am sorry but the world does not need your clothing brand to collaborate with Lucky Charms, Coke, or whatever else. Too many pieces of clothing went from having good potential to being completely ruined by some ugly graphic nobody asked for.
Nike - Is it me or has nothing exciting has happened in terms of footwear from the brand? I might rustle some feathers to all my sneaker collectors, but I am not 21 anymore and I don’t want to wear jordans or dunks! (the only decent shoe in a while was the Air Mada, but this being the only shoe I liked in what feels like a year is not a good sign)
Dressing like Bella Hadid - What is up with people trying to look exactly like somebody else? Parachute pants have been overdone to infinity and beyond, specifically on tiktok, but it seems like this trend isn’t dying anytime soon. (Listen, if you want to dress like Bella then all the power to you, but I just don’t see the appeal to try to look like someone else—your personal vibe is unique and awesome because it’s yours, we need more of that fashion!!)
Stealing the Aime Leon Dore lookbook vibe- I am not going to link every single photoshoot I’ve seen because I don’t need to make enemies, but why is everybody blatantly copying the vibe that ALD has created for their own lookbook? Where is the originality???
Fit pics - It’s time to stop giving people free ideas, and start pay-walling all of your fit pics. You want to see how I dress, then open up your purse. Jokes aside, fit pics are fine-ish? But when the fit pics are taken in hopes of making it to Grailed’s IG, that’s when I start to dislike them. Way too forced, and more than half of the time the people don’t even look comfortable in what they are wearing!!
Kith - This topic is funny because it seems like a lot of people agree with the fact that Kith might be the cringiest thing in streetwear right now—I’m sorry in advance if you work at Kith and are reading this, it’s not you, it’s me!
Listen, the business is successful, and the physical stores are pretty, but none of that will make me want to buy the clothes. I don’t know what it is but the vibe is off!! Although recently it seems like the brand direction has been going through a shift, because I have seen recent drops feature very few logos on their garments—unless they weren’t showing the massive KITH logo on the back in flowers or something. My suggestion? Stop collabing for like 2 minutes, and maybe not offer pieces in every color imaginable—less is more!Thrifting - This one makes me sad because thrifting is awesome and will obviously continue but for now it’s time to take a break. Shout out to tiktok for making thrifting even harder than before. I actually tremble when I see a group of 5 with the double knee pants + dunks + harley tee’s because I know there are about 2.5 minutes left before the entire store is empty.
This concludes our first SNLTR! There’s definitely more to be discussed, but I’ll save that for a future trend report. As always, I’d love to hear your opinions on the above, and if you have your own trend that you didn’t see mentioned then drop me a comment below.
I thoroughly enjoyed this
Can’t wait till next Saturday’s night report
