Since the dawn of time, men have been obsessed with finding the ideal short inseam length. I’m here to tell you that 5”, 7” or even 10” inseams are all in the equation. Inseam length trends are obviously out there, but ideally you’re not bound to them. If anything, you should probably have a range of options in your wardrobe that come in different lengths. As of right now there’s definitely more popularity with shorts that go below the knee—and while I’ve personally been enjoy this moment, I believe there’s plenty of room for other styles to also have their spotlight.

In today’s report, I’m going to try to focus on various inseam lengths as well as different styles in my recommendations, we’ll also go through a list of brands that I think have a great selection of shorts you can buy right now, and more.

Emery Pleated Big Shorts by 18 East

To start things off we’re going with something with structure and length. I know that I said we’re not conforming to any trends, but the over the knee with the slightly wider fit is the right move this summer. The 18 East Emery shorts just recently dropped, which are constructed using 13oz raw denim—you can expect some solid structure, which will become softened out with age. 18 East recommends that you give these shorts a simple rinse wash before your first wear to soften the fabric. Pleated details give it that more chic look and feel to the overall style, which I like a lot.

Currently available over at the 18 East website here.

Natra Studios is a new brand I recently discovered that handmakes all of its products in Bristol, UK. An independent brand making cool stuff is what drives me. Plus, supporting these brands couldn’t be more important than right now.

The Baily shorts come in both cotton and cotton slub denim styles—the check shorts have to be favorite though. They are constructed using a thin and soft to the touch cotton that has that same feeling you might find in that broken in blanket your grandma has had since you can remember. We’re talking a lot of flow and breathability here.
