The Boot Report™
What styles I'm into right now, brands making hiking boots that you may have never heard of before, and boots on a budget you can buy right now!
It’s been almost exactly a year since the last Boot Report. If you haven’t read that yet, I suggest running through that as it talks about some great brands, styles, and more — The more information, the better, and I think that what I highlighted there is still relevant today. In today’s newsletter, I’m sharing an array of new styles I’m into right now, brands you might have never heard of before, and I’ve also created a new edition of Boots on a Budget: a list of affordable second-hand options you can buy right now.
Boots are in an interesting space right now. The hiking boot is arguably one of the most popular, which has left its style mark on what is currently coming out. I’m into it though, and even though we are slowly starting to see more new brands enter this space, there’s still a lot more room for creative ideas to come forward.
It still feels early to be shopping for boots, but if I’m being honest, you have to get on that now before all of the good stuff is gone. Then you have to wait for the restock or pay resell prices, and nobody wants to do that. New collections are slowly hitting the shelves, and you might as well be prepared before your options are limited. Below is my list of what’s currently happening and what drops you should be aware of.
MORJAS
The Swedish-based brand has returned with its newest collection for fall, bringing us a much-needed restock on their hiking styles with some new additions to their roster. The hiking variants might be the eye-grabbers here, but I wouldn’t write off the Chelsea boot completely either — sometimes I don’t want to deal with the hassle of tying my boots and just need something that gets the job done quickly. Plus, with the whole menswear revival, Chelsea is a timeless model that is perfect for anyone for a more grown-up look.
You can shop Morjas’ newest collection directly on their website here.
YUKETEN
If you’re a fashion nerd like myself, then you’re probably going to geek out on Yuketen. This one is for the big players who are ready to invest in a pair of boots that will outlive them. Founded in 1985, Yuketen focuses on every single detail of the process, from the materials they use to the way each of their products is finished during assembly.
When I first got to see the products in person, I was blown away by the level of detail, construction, and overall feel of each of their boots. Their stuff isn’t cheap, but I also don’t think it’s expensive for what you end up getting, either. Yukuten offers its Ready to Wear collection directly on its website, which features an array of styles in various sizing. If you’re looking to level up even further, then check out their Made to Order section, which has way more to pick from and they will ensure that you receive the right size you need so you don’t end up regretting your purchase later.
