Before we begin this week’s recommendations, I wanted to give a big shout-out to the number of people who DM’d the blog requesting this specific report—this one's for you! I love when people send me questions/requests/whatever, so keep them coming!!
Belts are one of those things you don’t see often, but when it does cross someone’s line of sight, it’s essential to let them know you’re thinking about your outfit all the way through. Believe it or not, your belt can easily make or break your entire outfit, so it’s definitely important for you to have a belt or two that will fulfill your everyday needs.
Writing this report I quickly realized that many belts suck—and those that don’t are expensive. I guess you can say that you need to pay to play when it comes to building out your wardrobe. Lucky for you, I found some belts that won’t break your bank, but that doesn’t mean that I won’t share some recommendations that might make you reconsider your savings account.
FUN COLORS ARE ALWAYS IMPORTANT
Belts are a perfect item to experiment with crazy colors. Going all black is easy, but it could lead to boredom; if you’re feeling experimental, I have some recommendations that will bring color to your fits.
Listen, I know that I am stuck on recommending Stussy a lot in my newsletters, but the truth is it’s hard not to recommend them when they are doing it right—especially when it comes to belts with reasonable prices. Stussy’s collection is perfect for those who are looking to make a splash when they enter the room, but if you’re looking for something more simple, then the Braided Leather, Leather Dress, and Woven Cord belts will be great substitutions for the ones shown above.
Check out the rest of the Stussy belts here - Some might say they are sold out, but all the belts come in multiple colors, so be sure to look around!
HOWDY PARTNER 🤠
If you’re trying to look more like Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption 2, then mixing western vibes with streetwear could be exactly what you’ve been missing in your life. I wear this western style belt that I got from Aritzia 3 years ago—I know, I’m crazy, but honestly, the $50 price tag and the number of times people asked me if my belt is Celine made it all comically worth it—It’s a shame that this belt is sold out because its quality has served me well so far. I would definitely recommend anyone to try it out for themselves if they can.
There are other options that are even better, but get ready to spend some money because this next belt by Needles isn’t cheap but the quality will make you rethink your financial strategy—I did find this next belt on sale which will be linked down below.
Here is a list of places where you can buy this belt:
Today’s Clothing - Black / Brown
Ssense (ON SALE) - Brown
Notre - Brown
Nepenthes also has an alternative square buckle version in black and brown that are definitely worth checking out if you’re still on that Western vibe. Enough about that though, it’s time to take a look at something more casual from Nepenthes that caught my attention.
This next belt is key because I am a big fan of the 1” thickness—something a lot more belts should be offered in. The simplicity is great and the quirky design might be a conversation starter—you never know!! This is a much cheaper alternative to the western belt above, and it comes in white and black leather versions.
SO YOU THINK I’M SKINNY?
A good 1” belt will go a long way in your daily life. This next one is made by a brand that has been making leather goods in the USA for decades and for the affordable price of <$80 you won’t go wrong with this belt from Tory Leather Co.
Will this be the best belt you’ll ever own? Probably not, the quality is going to be solid with proper hardware and stitching that won’t make it fall apart, but with that being said you’ll be happy you spent a bit extra for a much nicer belt. (Not that there’s anything wrong with this belt, it’s just that there are better options if you’re willing to spend!)
Both are currently available on Nepenthes in Dark Brown and Oak.
FOR THE BIG SPENDERS
Our Legacy isn’t messing around when it comes to belt styles, but what they are doing is messing with my financial decisions. These next three belts offer something a bit different in each style that could be for everyone; all you have to do is pick the one for you.
Choosing just one of these styles could be rather difficult because all three are absolute slappers. I can imagine myself having all of them because they would work really well in pretty much any of my outfits right now. These ones aren’t cheap but if you’re buying a belt that you plan on wearing for years to come then spend the extra $$$ and be surprised how the belt will remain to look new after years of wear.
You can get these belts here - Double Tongue, Beige Leather, Flowers Olive Leather.
I’M RECOMMENDING NOAH AGAIN
Noah has been going through a period where I am not really interested in anything, but lucky for us this belt in collaboration with Jimi Hendrix caught my much-needed attention.
Needlepoint belts are more on a preppy side of things, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t fun! Because each point is placed individually on the belt, making this a craftsman’s work of art, ends up being represented in its price.
Available to buy directly from Noah
ALWAYS DO WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
This next belt isn’t anything groundbreaking in terms of design and is a type of belt we owned when we were in high school. Always Do What You Should Do is a brand I’ve been following for a minute, and it has quickly become one of my favorite brands to watch.
For only $25 you can’t really go wrong with this fun belt that is reversible if you’re in a more low-key mood. Like I said above, while this belt isn’t anything crazy, I just want to gas them up and give them the hype they deserve!
Available to buy directly from their website.
A BIT MORE TECHNICAL
This next belt by Norse Projects is for all of my tech fans who aren’t trying to break their bank. A rather simple belt that has a different approach to the buckle, making it perfect for those who are rocking cargo pants a lot right now.
This belt is actually on sale in both Black and Olive versions for only $77 USD—a solid investment if you ask me.
This concludes our first belt report!! I hope when our second one happens we can have a lot more belts to choose from. For now, if you’re a brand I definitely urge you to think about your belts because the more options we have to choose from the better.
