Based out of Toronto, the brand is celebrating 10 years of making your favourite swim trunks. When the brand first launched, the goal was to develop locally in Canada with a focus on high-quality bathing suits that wouldn’t break the bank using 100% recycled materials. Fast forward to today, Bather has continued to grow by offering a variety of patterned bathing suits, accessories, and a new line of exciting garments for everyone to enjoy.
HIGH SUMMER COLLECTION
For Bather’s 10th year, the brand wanted to continue its tradition by redefining the term ‘resort wear’. To them ‘resort’ is much more than a vacation, it’s a lifestyle—a casual laissez-faire approach to fashion. Bather has teamed up with mills across Japan to source everyday fabrics and apply them to casual comfortable silhouettes. The High Summer Capsule includes the launch of two new swimwear patterns as well as a new camp shirt. In addition, existing silhouettes have been reimagined and given fresh styles to seamlessly fit within your summer wardrobe.
Made In Canada products automatically hold a special place in my heart because, well, they are from Canada, and I’ll always make sure that Canadian brands get the spotlight they deserve, especially when they are making high-quality garments that aren’t forcing me to pick up a second job just to own their pieces — Bather’s quality is great and their prices are even better which is an automatic no brainer when I’m looking for new clothes.
All my people who are looking to have as much skin out as possible this summer are in luck! Bather’s swim shorts are fitted with a 5.5” inseam, which is honestly perfect because I’m not trying to swim with extra material on me that I don’t need. The recycled polyester shell is sturdy and dries extremely fast, comes in sizes from XS all the way to XXL, and has a variety of really fun patterns to choose from — overall, this is one of my favorite swim shorts to wear right now.
The swim selection is massive and features patterns, simple colors, and pretty much anything to have you looking fresh in the water — I definitely recommend going through their catalog for the full vibe breakdown.
Bather has also got you covered when it comes to shorts for out of the water activities. Choose between the Utility Short — an 8” inseam beast that is made out of water-repellent ripstop fabric sourced from Japan that was originally used for military uniforms. The internal drawstring keeps things easy, and what I really enjoy is the belt loops that allow me to accessorize with ease. The Corduroy Leisure Short — also equipped with an 8” inseam that is created using 100% Japanese cotton. These corduroys are made from 21-wale fabric, which means that it’s half the thickness of your traditional wale cord, allowing for that lightweight, summer-ready vibe. Last but not least, if you want to keep things even lighter then you have to check out the Herringbone shorts that also share similar similarities to the shorts mentioned above.
Now to my personal favorite items from this collection — the shirts. Bather is one of the first spots I hit when I need a simple, great fitting, camp collar that is perfect for surviving extreme heat. Choose between simple colors or go crazy with some wild patterns, either way, there’s something for everyone. The 10-year collection also introduced a line of two long sleeve shirts that I knew had to have as soon as I saw them.
For this collection, Bather introduced their first ever 100% Japanese Rayon summer shirt in a very soft Chrysanthemum pattern — available in two different color options. The Hemp Stripe long sleeve shirt might be the garment for me. Created using a cotton-hemp blend that gets softer as you continue to wear it in two really nice colors. This is a shirt that you can wear to dinner and to the beach — versatility is important, so I’m definitely stoked to mix and match it with my existing clothes.
The collection doesn’t end here though! Pants, tank tops, and hats are the other garments that are part of the High Summer Collection — basically, you can build your entire outfit with ease thanks to this collection. Tank tops aka wife pleasers might be one of the horniest garments a man can wear right now, so why not do things right by equipping your wardrobe with tanks that are built to last?
Designed in a more relaxed fit, the tanks come in 3 different colors — white, cement and grey — comes in a wide ribbing, which is honestly way nicer than the standard thin ribbing you see across other tanks out there. Bless Bather for running these in sizes all the way up to XXL! You can check those out here.
