Let’s say you have a good rotation of clothing, but at one point or another, you begin feeling bored with your wardrobe, and when that happens, it feels like you have nothing to wear. This is where I am currently at. I believe I have a pretty solid wardrobe, but after rocking more or less the same thing for months, I want something new. Plus, with the end of summer slowly closing in on us, it’s time to start thinking about fall styles.
The research for jackets and all that good layering will come at a later date, but pants are the one category that I feel needs a refresher in my life. In today’s newsletter, we’re exploring some current styles that are on my mind. We’ll be taking a look at some dark denim options, pleated denim with diamond stitch details I can’t stop thinking about, some relaxed trouser options, a pair of pants from Studio Nicholson that I’m willing to break the bank for, Made-in-France trousers on sale, and a Danish brand that is making some great pants.
DENIM
Not that long ago I was talking about the return of raw denim and how I wanted to re-enter that world again, but I didn’t end up doing it. I don’t think summer is the right time for raw denim, but since fall is around the corner it’s a good time to start revisiting this idea. Until then, I have been taking a look around at what’s available and what might fit my style needs — currently my denim selection consists of light wash jeans, which is fine, but I realize I need something a bit darker in color which I don’t currently have.
First on my list are two pairs of newly released jeans from Goodfight. I was thinking about wanting to get something that had some sort of extra detailing, and the diamond stitching might be just the thing I was looking for. While these two versions might look similar, their fit is a little bit different. Pleated versions do have a bit more slack in the crotch area, allowing you to either wear them high-waisted or a bit looser around the hips – the choice is yours, which is nice. I think I’m into the idea of getting some pleated denim because I don’t have anything like that right now, and as of right now, these might be a definite purchase for me.
Sizes go from 28 all the way to 36 which is great. Currently available directly from the Goodfight store here.
Since we are on the topic of pleats, I found another pair that is much more low key and slightly cheaper than the Goodfight denim shown above. Now, I don’t know if I love the wash on these as much as the other ones, but either way, this is a pair that is going to be worth looking at — I’ll be in NY in a few weeks and will need to stop by the store to check these out in person.
