Happy Friday everyone! We’ve been long overdue for a proper spring footwear update, so today’s newsletter is all about shoes. A lot of styles, a lot of price points, but hopefully after today you’ll have a better idea of what you might need as the weather continues to get better. Today we’ll be going over some of my favorite styles that I have my eyes on, brands worth keeping in mind next time you’re upgrading, shoes I’ll go into financial ruin for, a style that gets hate for no reason, and more!

Footwear is all over the place right now. Skate shoes, runners, derbys, loafers, etc. Anything goes these days. A good rule of thumb is having a rotation that touches every avenue in a unique way—having a solid daily that’s easy to wear, mixed with something a little bit more elegant, and of course, a couple of unique bangers in between that keep things fresh and exciting.

Today’s list is a variation of all of that. There are so many shoes out there that I can spend months talking about them, so for today I wanted to focus on shoes that I have my eyes on right now, as well as brands that offer timeless classics that would make a great addition to anyone’s daily rotation. I want these recommendations to be a starting point for everyone to get a better idea of what’s out there and what styles are hot.

HOKA U TOR SUMMIT

Although everyone and their mothers have been talking about shoes with thin midsoles, there’s still room for a bulkier option. Hoka has been doing a lot of cool thing recently, and the U Tor Summit is proof of that. I’m a sucker for hairy suede and the comfort is something you should experience for yourself. Even though Hoka is known for a bigger midsole, the way they constructed the upper here gives it a good balance where the shoe doesn’t feel and look too big on your feet—pair them with pants that have some slack and can fall nicely on this shoe. Go with your true size on this one.

Available in all sorts of sizes over at the Hoka website here.

MEPHISTO

The cat is out of the bag. Gatekeeping Mephisto’s was all fun and games until our favorite brands started collaborating with them. No stress though, there is still plenty of time to enjoy these. While they are on a more premium side in terms of pricing, you are getting nothing but high quality that will last you a lifetime. If you don’t want to spend that much then getting them second-hand is also a very solid option—there are great deals out there and because they are so well made you’ll be getting a shoe with a lot of life left.
