Good shorts under $100
Plus, footwear built for the office, basic tees that are worth your money, a bag I'm currently obsessed with and more!
Happy payday everyone! What better way to celebrate than by spending that hard-earned cash on some new pieces? This is actually my last newsletter from the SNL HQ (Canada) for a bit as I’ll be travelling to China for the next few weeks. I have some fun articles locked in during my absence like What Footwear I’ll Be rocking this spring and The Denim Report™ — so make sure you subscribe. I’ll be back in no time though, and hopefully, I’ll have some good intel on China-related fashion to share with you when I return!
Let’s get into the recommendations. In today’s newsletter, we have a bunch of shorts under $100, what basic tees I’m rocking with right now, where you can cop some hoodies from Beams for around $150, a brand that’s making fire footwear joints that don’t break the bank, a bag that I’m willing to ruin my credit score for, and more!
A BRAND WITH A BUNCH OF HEAT
You know might know Horatio as a footwear expert first, specifically loafers, but they also dabble in clothing and accessories — something I learned about recently. The London based brand focuses on crafting exceptional footwear that fits the office or that special occasion in your life, and they do it all for a reasonable price.
I’m in the market for a nice low profile leather shoe and the Norfolk Derby might be just the thing I’ve been looking for. If mentioned this in the past, but the vibe as of right now is a nice pair of leather shoes paired with some sweatpants — or as I like to call it cozy luxury. It’s a vibe. The best part is that they are only $300, which in the realm of good quality footwear is very reasonable. I also threw the Norfolk Adventurer Derby in the mix because that white grain leather with the combat midsole is speaking to my wallet.
In terms of sizing, I’ve heard mixed reviews of people going true to size or sizing up slightly. If you’re someone who tends to get shoes in their true size without issues, I’d say stick with that plan here. Sizing up by a small margin is always a safe bet though!
You can shop the Norfolk Derby by Horatio on their website here.
Since we’re here already we might as well take a look at their clothing and accessories. Truthfully I am not 100% certain about the clothes because I’ve never seen them in person, but if we are judging the quality based on how they make their shoes then I think we’re in good hands. Belts are fun too, and only for $100 you can’t go wrong with trying one of them out. They are also available in various waist sizes which is a plus — you can shop all of the stuff shown above directly on their website here!
SHORTS ON A BUDGET
You know things are bad when shorts are at least $250… What’s up with that? Don’t get me wrong, I understand everything costs an arm and a leg these days due to higher production costs, but I’m seeing some shorts hitting $500 in retail price, and that’s just crazy to me.
Not all is bad though because there are still plenty of brands that are making fire shorts for the low. Classifying a good pair of shorts is kind of subjective though, and it really comes down you and your preferences — are you focused on comfort? Construction quality? Or just need something to let the dogs out in the summer? Either way, there are plenty of shorts to pick from for around $100.
