Getting Dressed For A Special Occasion
Elite shirts, unique suiting options, good trousers, elegant footwear and a bunch more!
It seems that we’ve reached an age where special occasions are happening more frequently, and that means we need special fits to ensure the best experience. Weddings, celebrations, friendsgiving, whatever it is, it’s always good to have a fit or two that brings you to that elite level in a way that your regular clothing rotation might not. A nice suit will always be a great place to start, but when the function is slightly more casual that’s when you can really have some fun with your outfit.
In today’s newsletter, we are diving into the world of prestige through garments, taking a look at some suit options, button-down shirts that you won’t want to take off, bottoms that you can wear to a wedding and to the function, elegant footwear options, and to close it off, I’ll be sharing a personal outfit I just rocked to a wedding to give you some personal inspiration.
Dressing up has been an interesting journey for me personally. I’ve gone through a few different suits in my life and as I get older I realize that spending more on a higher-quality suit will always be the best answer. Now, I’m not going to tell you how to buy one because that’s honestly something I’m not even good at myself—I usually hit the local tailor with a vision, and then they end up guiding me along the process.
Through experience and different social situations, I’ve evolved and gathered enough information that helps keep my eyes open for new styles that are classy but also more fashion-forward at the same time. Sometimes you just have to go for the classic style, and that’s totally cool because classic styling will always hold its value, but if the situation allows you to think outside of the box then that’s where things start to get a little bit more interesting.
But sometimes you don’t need to go overboard with it, and you can even keep it streetwear-ish with the right garments. Get yourself a proper shirt, some trousers and a low-key staple for your footwear and you’re going to have your boys yelling “LET HIM COOK!” in no time. Goodfight is a Los Angeles based fashion label that I like visiting for when it’s time to do just that. What’s great about them is that a lot of their garments can easily be dressed up and down depending on your execution, thus giving the pieces way more wearability.
What’s great about Goodfight is they offer their own custom suiting consulting. You can book directly through the site to set up your appointment in their LA shop. Another bonus is that some of their oxfords options do run all the way to size 2XL, which I know some of you have been asking me about so hopefully this helps—they are also currently on sale! I suggest checking back as their website adjusts sizes available but from what I’ve seen there were plenty of 2XL options available.

Keep a close eye on this one as they have some new formal styling dropping on their site soon.
Insatiable High is a brand that grabbed my attention a while ago on some streetwear-related drops, but more recently they’ve been pivoting to suits and some interesting shirting. Still keeping that playfulness of streetwear alive, the pieces really stand on their own that really fit that vibe I’ve been looking for when it comes to getting playful with formal wear.
