Gear I'm enjoying this week
Finding the perfect garment dyed tees, sharing what shoe styles I'm feeling with GQ, elite GORE-TEX footwear from one of the best to ever do it, and much more!
Before we dive into today’s topics I wanted to take a second to ask you some questions about the newsletter. I’ve been looking into diversifying and fine tuning what we cover here. To do so, I created a brief survey with some questions that should help me get a better idea of what type of content you’d love to see in the future.
I really appreciate everyone who’s been reading, supporting, asking questions, using the chat, and so on, and now I’d love to dig deeper to find out what can make this newsletter even better. If you could take a minute and answer some of these questions I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
Alright, now with that out of the way, let’s talk garments! In today’s newsletter we’re going to be covering upcoming releases you should know about, shared a few words in GQ about what shoe styles I’m feeling this summer, finding a great set of garment dyed tees for a very good price, a bag that’s been living in my head rent free, elite GORE-TEX footwear from one of the best, and a documentary I watched recently that has immaculate vibes and style.
WHAT SHOE STYLES ARE HOT RIGHT NOW?
I recently had a chance to share some of my opinions on GQ about shoes I’m currently feeling the most this summer. It’s no secret that thin sole shoes are the talk of the town right now, I mean, just look at models like the Prada Collapse, Maison Margiela’s Sprinter, or the Louis Vuitton’s Footprint Soccer shoe. While football inspired models are slowly creeping up on us, there’s still lots of room for more dressed up elite leather footwear to take over our closets this season.

If you don’t want to spend too much on shoes, which I don’t blame you, but still want that thin sole you should check out DV Pele by Deviation—The South Korean shoemaker has been experimenting with a lot of different models and now they have their own take, but for the fraction of the price.
Currently waiting for my pair to arrive in the mail so I can give you a proper review.
Speaking of elite footwear though, I just grabbed the Tyrolean GTX from Haven’s recent collaboration with Regal Shoe & Co. Absolutely beautiful pair of shoes in hand that screams quality the moment you open up that box. Goodyear welted in Japan, the cowhide upper with the GORE-TEX lining is something I wasn’t expecting, but that extra level of protection is a nice touch that I won’t be complaining about.
Unfortunately this one sold out insanely quickly on the Haven website, but there are still some sizes left on the Regal website here. I ended up grabbing my true size, 10.5 US, and they fit perfectly. If you have more of a wide foot then I suggest sizing up half a size. Don’t be afraid if it feels a little tight at first, that cowhide leather is going to stretch out only after a few wears and quickly mold to your foot.
A DOCUMENTARY YOU SHOULD WATCH
If you’re not familiar with Ryuichi Sakamoto, I’m beyond excited for you. Discovering his work and looking at his process is insanely inspirational and fun. I recently watched a documentary on him called Tokyo Theory (1985), featuring interviews with Ryuichi, concert footage, and scenes of him recording his studio album Illustrated Musical Encyclopedia. The best part of it all, he is getting those fits off.
COULD THESE BE THE TEE OF THE SUMMER?
The hunt for the perfect tee is a never ending story, because if we actually think about it, what makes a t-shirt perfect? We’re all different shapes and sizes with different needs and wants. What might work for you might not work for someone else. It all comes down to experimenting, and that’s where I come in, delivering you the freshest review on what might be just the tee you’ve been looking for this summer.
