Filling The Void With Clothes
Umbro jerseys, patchwork jackets, more fleeces, and a bunch more heat for this week's recommendations!
Another week, another list of great items worth ruining our finances for—that seems to be the theme of each newsletter recently, and with everything that’s been going on in the world/internet recently, it seems that buying clothes is the only thing I have left to keep myself distracted. Things might seem grim, so why not look good while we watch things unfold?
Let’s bring it back to a more positive vibe, shall we? Today’s newsletter is a quick one because I woke up today wanting to write, and luckily there’s a bunch of stuff worth writing about. Today we are looking at upcoming releases, jacket options because layering season is upon us, great collaborations coming later this week and everything else in between.
In case you missed it, last week I dropped The Boot Report™, talking about the best boots money can buy:
PALACE x UMBRO
The World Cup is around the corner, and while I won’t be able to support Ukraine this year, what I can do is swag myself out in different ways that will hopefully fill the void of my home country not qualifying.
I recently made a possibly controversial statement regarding Palace’s collaborations this year and how I feel about them—spoilers: it’s positive. The Umbro collab is dropping at a perfect time and is one of the only times I will accept Palace’s triferg on the garments.
The collab is pretty simple, but what I did enjoy is how there were multiple color options for the jerseys, allowing us to choose our own flavor ahead of the festivities. Pink and purple jerseys have to be my favorite, but let’s not rule out the pullover and shorts combo which is honestly pretty fun too.
The simplicity here is key because the jersey is something that I can keep for years to come and pull out when I need to. I was also glad they chose to skip out on any branding on the back: keep it clean!
Palace x Umbro will be available Friday, November 18th!
DIME HOLIDAY ‘22
This is a topic that a lot of you aren’t ready to have yet, but there are a lot of cool clothes coming out of Canada, and I’m not just talking about brands, but individual designers that play their role on a bigger scale. Anyway, one of those cool things is Dime’s Holiday ‘22 collection.
The full collection preview isn’t out yet, but from what I have seen so far on their IG, this collection is looking really good. Their new pants will come in an all-new baggy fit which I’m sure is going to fly because people can’t be only wearing Polar’s Big Boys: we need options!! The Puffer fleece jacket is looking cozy—big fan of the multi-color one—and of course, the fleece is looking great too. What I’m trying to say is, there’s going to be something for everyone this drop.
Keep your eyes peeled to their IG as they announce a full lookbook/preview of the collection in the coming days.
The Holiday ‘22 collection is set to drop on November 19th, 1 pm EST on the Dime website.
GENERAL ADMISSION
This next brand is no stranger when it comes to being featured on the blog, and I don’t think this will stop anytime soon because I’m really enjoying what I’ve been seeing. I’m not going into the full breakdown of all of their items but instead will highlight some personal favorites currently available on their store. Definitely check out their full catalogue in your free time because the options are plentiful.
You can check out the full collection here—While patchwork jackets are great, and will always grab my attention, the standout piece has to be either the overshirt (bottom left) or the thermal cardigan: I never see thermal cardigans so that was cool to see!
The overshirts napped material creates a very interesting look that is fun to look at up close—it’s almost like wearing a towel but in a much more stylish way lol. Cozy! Just look at the detail:
COMFY OUTDOOR GARMENT
Much like the name, this next jacket is exactly that: a comfy outdoor garment. This next piece is perfect for those who are looking for something more simple but still with some sort of fun twist for their everyday rotation.
The jacket is pretty straight forward—but let me tell you why it stood out to me. The diamond pattern takes it above your regular insulated jacket, no branding is a no brainer for me, and the smaller hood is ideal because I’m not really about the massive hoods on jackets. This is a piece that you can wear underneath another coat if you want to, and when that’s an option you want that jacket to be a little bit more low-key, allowing you to pair it with different pieces in your closet.
This jacket is available now on This Thing Of Ours.
PATTA RIPSTOP
I actually just found this jacket as I was going about on the internet, but luckily I have some links for you to look at and hopefully get your own. Patta is always a good brand to keep in your back pocket, and this ripstop puffer is proof of that.
Two great colorways with simple branding is always the move when it comes to jackets, and the ripstop nylon is just an added bonus.
I ended up finding this one on a few websites in all types of sizes. Definitely recommend doing some googling of your own if you can’t find it in your size.
ONLY NY HOLIDAY ‘22
I think it would be best if we rounded up this week’s newsletter by highlighting some classic New York streetwear. Only NY was one of the first brands that I dabbled in when I was just a teen getting into streetwear, and I’m happy to see that they are still kicking it, dropping classics!
Holiday ‘22 preview can be seen here—and while a bunch of these pieces are still yet to drop, it’s good to get familiar—Holiday ‘22 has started dropping already, so check back for future drops. I’m personally aiming for that patchwork set as you might have already guessed, but in the meanwhile I’ve been really enjoying the Andes pattern, which was used to create some fun beanies and fleeces.
Some Patagonia vibes here, and for that I love it—to those who will might say: why don’t you just get Patagonia instead? Well, I don’t live in Silicon Valley, but the show was absolute gas ;). I already have Patagonia stocked up, and sometimes i just want something else, and that’s where this piece comes in: the colors of these pieces are great!
Both Andes beanie and Fleece are currently available in all colors and most sizes on their website!
