Clothes On My Mind
Seersucker garments, spring-ready shoes, a drop worth keeping tabs on, and how to elevate your tote bag game.
Another week another newsletter filled with a bunch of fire garments, shoes, and accessories that will have our personal style journey feeling rejuvenated. I’ve been going through my closet in preparation for spring weather and while I have identified a bunch of things I should replace/add to my rotation, there is still a bunch of work left to do.
In today’s newsletter, we are diving into seersucker garments that will have you feeling cool and cool during those hot days, shoes that are on my mind right now, garments on my wish list, elevating our tote bag game to new stylish levels, a drop from 18 East that I’m really excited about, and some stuff in between!
MAYBE NOT ALL IS BAD
Adidas Europe is getting all the good releases and honestly, I’m jealous… We can sit here and waste our time complaining as we wait for these colorways to hit North America, but in reality nobody has time for that. Upon doing some digging, it looks like things aren’t all that bad over in North America, as some interesting colorways of classic styles are available to purchase today—sure, they aren’t the European releases, but it’s better than nothing.
At this point you should know my stance on the Samba’s, but if you don’t then the report is in: Sambas are cooked! If you want to wear them then by all means do what you feel is right, nobody is actually going to care. But, if you’re not trying to look like everyone else then I do have some options that will separate you from the rest—at least for now until everyone starts realizing there are other styles besides the samba.
The Gazelle Indoor is a classic that should get more attention as it’s an excellent contender for a solid everyday shoe. While it’s not Europe, we still have some decent colorways to choose from—crossing my fingers in hopes of getting some of those European colorways over here, but until then we can enjoy what we can.

ANOTHER SUMMER SHOE OPTION
I’m anti shoes that have retail prices of $350+, but sometimes the heart wants what it wants and the new Ultrasceptre shoes from Raf Simons is making me reconsider all of my choices. Listen, if you got the funds then do it because money come and go but swag is forever, and there’s a good chance you’ll probably rock these until they disintegrate.
There’s no secret when it comes to the current shoe trend—asics/new balance have really made a splash with their catalog and many brands are trying to take a piece of the “Dad shoes with mesh detailings” and run with it, I get it. I’m personally mesh shoe pilled so I like these, but I understand that these might not be for everyone. If you’re a fan of the ASICS lineup but want something a bit more unique for the feet then Raf Simons’ Ultrasceptre should satisfy that itch perfectly.
Currently available in all sizes on Dover Street Market.
WE NEED MORE SEERSUCKER
Seersucker fabric is one that I really enjoy when it comes to trying to pull a fit off in the summer. Typically made out of 100% cotton that is woven on a loom with threads at different tensions—this is what creates the unique texture that translates into an extremely breathable and lightweight material that will help us survive the heat.
Howlin’ has recently released a bunch of items using seersucker that should be on everyones radar. Because the brand focuses on quality, the quantities at which they make their items is pretty small, so act fast before they are sold out. Since we are still in Pant Month I have a few pant recommendations that can’t go unnoticed—For our new readers, April is Pant Month here on the SNLetter, you can catch up on what that means by reading the latest Pant Report instalment here.
A very simple relaxed fit with premium seersucker that is closely inspected to insure the highest level of quality by Belgium ateliers, what more can you possibly want from a pant? These will be perfect to wear for your next trip overseas as you cosplay as a character from White Lotus.
On top of the pants there are a bunch of various styles that use the same seersucker that will definitely be interesting to browse through, here are some of my favorites:

ON THE WISH LIST
I’ve been obsessed with Sage Nation for a minute now, amazing quality mixed with designs that generate a specific excitement I look for in clothing, thus making me want everything they put out. Here is are the few items that have been sitting in my cart:
First up we have these insane seersucker pants that come in a wide leg style—baggy enthusiasts rise up! The elastic waistband is an interesting detail that instantly give off this comfortable vibe that I’m desperately looking for recently. My current rotation is great, but I need even more comfort.
Second item is the Jiji jacket which is a pretty straightforward piece, but what I enjoy is the elastic detailing at the hem and cuff. The overall shape will go really well with those pants, which would be a dream outfit for me, but my bank is saying otherwise—might have to sell off some shoes to make this plunge!
Both are available right now on Sage Nation website.
GOOD SIMPLICITY
Wearing statement pieces will always have its place but sometimes I need some good quality matched with simple design that does the job. These two shirt options from Knickerbocker have been on my mind since the moment I saw them—the lightweight cotton & linen blend is perfect for layering or wearing on your own, and will be a lot of fun pairing with your existing rotation.
Pretty straight forward stuff here, the double zipper shirts are speaking to me for obvious reasons—every zipper should be a double zipper, and it’s not up for discussion—that white one will have to be added to my personal rotation. The collar shape here is what I enjoy the most about both pieces. The thing about collars for me, they need to be compact and tight to the neck, I don’t need anything too big, which could potentially throw the entire fit off.
Available directly on the Knickerbocker website.
DON’T SLEEP ON THIS ONE
18 East has an upcoming drop, which doesn’t have a date yet, but what we do know it’s coming sometime in April. Looking like a really solid collection overall, and word on the street is that their pants are finally being made with a 32” inseam. It’s been a struggle trying to buy pants from them due to the sizes, so I’m definitely excited by this buzz—here are some of my favorite picks from the upcoming drop.
A TOPIC THAT NEEDS MORE ATTENTION
I don’t know why I haven’t been doing this, but we need to start talking about accessories more—honestly maybe it has something to do with the general interest around accessories through this blog, but we need to change things up. Recently I made a cooked list on twitter, and tote bags were on the list—some clarification is needed: I am not anti tote bags, they are practical and whatever, but the vibes are cooked in terms of trying to use a regular tote to “elevate” your fit, the ship has sailed people.
There’s no need to abandon totes though, but what we can do is elevate them to new stylish levels. Take these ones from Engineered Garments SS23—they are loud and come in some crazy patterns, but your bag is an item that can stand on its own when it comes to pairing it with your fit.
I get it, sometimes it’s difficult to go with a loud fit, but accessories allow you to dip your toes into the wild world of pattern/loudness without going overboard, and I think that your bags is a perfect way to do so.
Currently available on the Nepenthes website.
STILL ON THE HUNT
I’ve been trying to acquire the perfect striped tee—to me, this means a striped pattern/color combo that is easy and welcoming to the eyes upon first glance, and of course a tight neck collar mixed with a proper fitting tee. Sometimes you have color combinations that are just outright ugly though, which makes this task harder than it needs to be. My current list of potential stripe tees to look after come from Beams Plus, but sadly I was too late to finding these because all the good ones are already sold out.
Check out Pilgrim Surf Supply for these offerings—that’s where I grabbed these product photos—unfortunately I can’t link you because of the character limit stuff, but I can still spread the news. I’m really interested in finding that green one specifically, although the one in the bottom right corner is still up for grabs which I’ve been considering. Alas, the hunt for the perfect striped tee will still go on. If you got any good stripe tee recommendations that you’re enjoy, I’d love to hear them! Drop a comment below.
