Brands to watch for fall gear right now
What sunglasses I've been wearing, going full-time with the blog, drops you should know about, and more!
I’ve been enjoying the summer a little too much and to be honest with you, fall couldn’t come any faster. I need to lock in. I’ve also recently quit my 9-5 to focus on SNL full-time and because of summer, I’ve been on what I like to call a detox vacation. Going all in on something you started 10 years ago in your 300 sq. ft. apartment is crazy, but your support has been so overwhelming that you’ve allowed me to bet on myself, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
I’ve also been busy setting up the new office which has been a lot of fun to build. Writing at home isn’t as fun as it might sound, it’s hard to stay focused. My storage situation was also getting out of hand and I believe that has affected my output as a writer, so we needed to switch things up. Being able to have a space where I can properly look at the stuff I’m writing about is hopefully going to push the content forward, and I’m hyped about that. Anyway, excited to continue expanding this thing which will hopefully turn into new content for all of us to enjoy soon.
Friendly reminder to hit up last week’s newsletter on how to refresh your wardrobe for fall. I had a lot of fun writing this one and it seems a lot of you did as well. If you’re looking for answers to specific fashion questions then drop me a comment with your topic suggestions and we’ll see how I can turn that into a newsletter.
SUNGLASSES I’VE BEEN WEARING
Some of you have been hitting me up for some sunglasses recommendations so I had to come correct. Figured it’s a good time to talk about my pair on sunglasses from Chimi. I just learned about this brand on my past trip to Paris, when I randomly went to one of their stores to discover the brand. I’ve been looking for a slimmer pair of shades that were simple at the time, and most importantly had a nice tint — the shape is important, but if you don’t have a tint that you like then what are we even doing here?

Brand is based out of Sweden and has been making shades since 2016. My initial thoughts were the shades needed some time to break in, which seems like a funny thing to say, but they were just stiff. They did offer to adjust the frames to loosen them up a bit, which I declined for some silly reason. After a while they did naturally loosen and that made them much more enjoyable to deal with. One thing I will recommend is to not put them in a bag with random stuff.
I had pulled the classic move of asking my girlfriend to put them in her purse because I’m a man who doesn’t carry his own things — it absolutely decimated them. Things in her purse ended up banging on the frame across the day, leaving it pretty beat up with scratches all around. The lenses are fine which is actually a good sign. Oh well though, stuff is meant to be worn and they still look great. But if you’re trying to avoid that then make sure you store them in a case of some sort.
I also have these Balenciaga shades from ‘07 that I got years ago on Grailed. Unfortunately, I had to replace the original lenses which were 10x better in my opinion — One of them ended up shattering somehow. Oh well, happens sometimes. Might have to continue the search for a similar tint because I don’t know if I love the new ones so much. The frame is sweet though.
I had some new levels of excitement recently because I’ve been seeing more and more FW24 clothing hitting the feed. Layering season is almost upon us, and that means it’s time to start obsessing over a new little jacket that will hurt your wallet. There’s also a bunch of other cool stuff that has been on my mind that I wanted to talk about in today’s newsletter — what items I’m looking at for fall, brands I’m keeping a close eye on right now, upcoming releases on my radar, and more.
BRANDS I GOT MY EYES ON RIGHT NOW
There’s a lot out there and if the IG feed isn’t keeping you updated then it’s pretty easy to miss heat. Luckily it’s my job to keep you in the loop so you don’t miss out on too much. Here are some brands I’ve been keeping a close eye as we move towards the fall season:
Eastlogue is a brand that needs more love… but maybe gatekeeping isn’t all that bad. Bunch of new gear just hit their website that you can check out here. I’ve gathered some of my favorite pieces below that are currently available on their site. Brand runs true to size, great quality stuff with a high level of focus on the construction throughout their pieces.
You can follow them on IG here.
Uniform Bridge is another Korean brand that has a bunch of cool American inspired workwear that I like right now. They don’t ship internationally, but END usually has a pretty big selection, with a lot of it on sale right now that I highly recommend you look at. I don’t think their newest collection has hit retailers just yet, but should in the coming weeks.
Variety is there in terms of fits of the items, giving the customers a choice between wider and more slim styles. Again, solid construction across their garments that can either be dressed down in a casual way or worn to the office if permitted — it all comes down to your personal styling, but these are very traditional menswear items we all know and love.
You can follow them on IG here.
Lastly, Wood Wood has a sale going on right now that has grabbed my attention. Big fan of their pants section, which offers a great variety of looks that are slightly more elevated above your regular pair of denim or trousers. Outerwear is cool too, so I recommend checking that out as well while you’re there.
You can follow Wood Wood on IG here.
ONE OF THE BEST RIGHT NOW
Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in. It’s hard to avoid Our Legacy because I do think they are at the top of the charts when it comes to menswear right now in general. They’ve been killing it collection after collection, and with the continuous expansion of their sub-labels, it doesn’t look like they will be stopping anytime soon. Their stuff is available for purchase through various retailers, but obviously all the good stuff can be found directly on their website.
There’s actually too much stuff to go through, so I decided to gather some personal favorites that are currently available right now. Footwear is absolutely killer and continues to be some of my favorite products from the brand. Leather products are also impossible to avoid this season, so good luck.
THIS SHOE NEEDS MORE LOVE
The Reebok Premier Road Modern is a model that I think should get a little bit more hype, but maybe it’s better that it hasn’t… Fans of a more running style shoe should be on top of this one — although their general release colorways aren’t usually my favorite, their collaborations always end up hitting.
In collaboration with Packer, the Premier Road Modern doesn’t have a release date just yet, but I’m expecting them to release in the coming month or so. Best way to stay up to date on the release is to follow Packer directly on IG here.
PUT DOWN THE PITCHFORKS
Ok, don’t freak out on me, but I am going to be recommending shoes that only come in women’s sizing — maybe you can somehow fit in them or maybe you want to surprise your significant other with a nice little gift. Either way, I think the Japan Country is sick and I wanted to highlight them in today’s newsletter. That leather is speaking to me personally, and I think the shape is lovely for everyday errands that have a more casual approach to them. So do what you will with this information.
🫡 for including Eastlogue and Uniform Bridge…two of the most consistently impressive brands out there IMO. Always with the stunning lookbooks and product shots too. Korea doesn’t miss these days!
How is the quality of uniform bridge? Their pants and jeans looks sick!
